Guest Speaker  – Rhona Martin (Director CSRD)

Re. Proposal for a 5 year management lease  for the Malakwa School Building (Learning Centre).

At the September, October and November meetings Rhona Martin has provided information about the government funding available to keep the doors open and programs available at the Malakwa Learning Centre.  We have invited Rhona to provide a final session of information before the Community Association membership votes on supporting a 5 year management lease with School District No. 83.

It is of utmost importance that all association members and interested community members attend the January 11th meeting.  A decision will be made regarding the Malakwa Community Association entering into a 5 year agreement with North Okanagan School District No. 83 to lease the school building.  Funding for the 5 year lease agreement would be coming from grants through the CSRD.  The Malakwa School Centre presently houses the Malakwa Learning Academy; Malakwa Resource Centre; Malakwa Post Office; Malakwa Library and is presently hosting an Okanagan College Business Course.    The building is maintained by many community volunteers and is a very busy centre. CSRD representative Director Rhona Martin  will be at the January 11th meeting to explain the process and to answer any questions.
