Malakwa Community News March 2022

The Malakwa Community Association members met on March 24, 2022.  Here are the highlights of the meeting:

Yard Creek Campground – Yard Creek Campground will re-open on May 18, 2022.  Planned date for closure Is September 6, 2022.  Camping fees remain at $25.00 per night.

Centennial Park – Guidelines for Park use have been established.

Malakwa Fire Department – no callouts and lots of training happening.  The Malakwa Fire Department will sponsor a Mother’s Day breakfast.  More details to follow.

Learning Centre – not taking bookings yet.  The Resource Centre is very active and the Library is open on Saturdays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Malakwa Cemetery – the Cemetery is maintained by volunteers.  If you have a love one at the cemetery or have time to volunteer for cleanup please help keep the cemetery tidy.  Lots of leaves to rake up in the Spring!

Thrift Store –  Great news!  The Thrift Store will re-open this spring.  Watch for more information on opening days.

Malakwa Preschool – Check out the new sign.  A survey is in progress regarding summer day care service.  Please contact the preschool if this is something you would like to have available.

Neighbourhood Emergency Program – We will have a guest speaker at our next meeting to explain how the program works.  Everyone is  invited to attend.

Our next meeting is scheduled for April 28 at 7:00 p.m.  Everyone is the community is welcome to attend.
